What is the change?
According to the initial tweet, verified users could only see 6,000 posts each day, while unverified accounts could only read 600 posts. In addition, new unverified accounts were limited to 300 posts each day.
However, Musk tweeted two hours after the initial announcement that these restrictions would be raised soon. Verified accounts would be limited to 8,000 posts per day, unverified accounts to 800 posts per day, and new unverified accounts to 400 posts per day. Musk revised the numbers again three hours later, claiming that the new restrictions were now 10,000 posts per day for verified users, 1,000 posts for unverified accounts, and 500 posts for new unverified accounts
Why is there a limit?
The improvements were implemented to “address extreme levels of data scraping and system manipulation,” Musk said in a tweet. He went on to say that the site was being “data pillaged,” which was impeding the service for users. He went on to say that hundreds of organizations, if not thousands, were scraping Twitter data “extremely aggressively,” negatively impacting user experience.
What have users to say?
Since the morning of July 1, Twitter users have been complaining about tweet loading difficulties, including error messages stating that they had surpassed the rate limit.
On Saturday, the hashtags “TwitterDown” and “RateLimitExceeded” were popular as users encountered these new constraints.
On Saturday morning, the website downdetector.com reported a large spike in user complaints about accessing Twitter, with thousands of reported problems by the afternoon. A large number of Twitter users flocked to the platform to express their concerns and seek clarity from Elon Musk himself, expressing their grievances and questions regarding the issue.
Users voiced their displeasure with words like, “Hey Elon, my Twitter isn’t working.” “What exactly is going on?” and “Is there a limit to how many tweets I can read?” “Could you please shed some light on this?”
Other Recent Modifications
The adoption of post limits on Twitter is only the latest in a long line of changes that have occurred since Elon Musk purchased the company in October of the previous year.
In April, the business began the process of discontinuing the traditional “blue check marks,” replacing them with a new system in which users who meet particular eligibility criteria and pay a monthly charge can acquire a check mark indicating their verified status. The goal of this change was to make the verification process more simplified and transparent.

Furthermore, Twitter has announced plans to prioritize video content, creator partnerships, and commerce collaborations in order to diversify its revenue streams outside digital advertising.
Twitter hopes to engage users and provide them with a more immersive and dynamic experience by forming collaborations with video artists and extending commerce functions.
Twitter has also adopted a new monetization strategy, charging users for access to its application programming interface (API). Third-party applications and researchers use the API to access and analyze Twitter data.
Twitter hopes to capitalize on its rich data and resources by monetising API access, while also maintaining better control over how its platform is used.
