X, the platform formerly known as Twitter which was acquired by Elon Musk in 2022, has released its latest statistics on the Leading countries based on the number of X monthly active users. The US continues to have the most users on X globally, followed by Japan and India.

As per the latest data, here are the top 10 countries with the most number of X users as of 2024:

  1. United States – 68 million
  2. Japan – 50 million
  3. India – 23 million
  4. United Kingdom – 18 million
  5. Saudi Arabia – 16 million
  6. Brazil – 15 million
  7. Mexico – 14 million
  8. Canada – 13 million
  9. France – 12 million
  10. Germany – 11 million

The United States tops the list with 68 million monthly active X users, which is unsurprising given that X originated and is headquartered in the US. Japan comes second with 50 million users, the only Asian country to make it to the top 3.

India regained its spot as the third leading country with 23 million users, after seeing a decline in 2021 and 2022. The resurgence has been attributed to X’s growing popularity among Indian youth and its role in public discourse.

X usage and growth continue to be strong in Western markets like the UK, Canada, France, and Germany. Middle East countries like Saudi Arabia and Brazil represent strong emerging user bases.

Commenting on the latest user statistics, X CEO Elon Musk said:

“We are thrilled to see X grow globally, with increasing adoption across geographies. This affirms my belief that X can truly become the digital town square for the world. Our goal remains to make X the most accurate, engaging, and transparent platform.”

He added, “While the US is and will remain our largest market, I’m excited by the growth we’re seeing in India, Japan, and parts of the Middle East and Latin America. It shows that X resonates universally.”

Industry experts predict that countries like India, Indonesia, and Brazil will drive future growth for X, bolstered by rising smartphone adoption and demand for real-time communication. The platform hopes to reach a worldwide user base of over 300 million by 2025.
