The DSA went into effect in November of last year, and it demands huge internet platforms and search engines to do more to combat illegal content and threats to public safety.

According to the Commission, the investigation will focus on combating the spread of unlawful content in the EU, as well as the efficiency of measures adopted to counteract information manipulation, such as the “community notes” system.

X debuted its “Community Notes” function earlier this year, which lets users comment on posts to flag inaccurate or misleading content, thereby crowdsourcing fact-checking.
