There has been considerable buzz surrounding X (formerly known as Twitter) ever since Elon Musk acquired the company last year. Earlier this year, Musk appointed former NBCUniversal executive Linda Yaccarino as the CEO of X.
During an interview at Vox Media’s Code 2023 conference, Linda Yaccarino’s iPhone Home Screen with the audience, and it raised eyebrows when it became evident that the X app was not on the first page.
However, it appears that the X app did not make it to the top of the list of Yaccarino’s favorites. During the Code 2023 conference, Yaccarino unlocked her iPhone to illustrate what X is supposed to represent. What inadvertently became evident was that the X app was not on her iPhone’s first page.
Observant viewers noted that the X CEO’s Home Screen featured apps such as Starbucks, Gmail, Signal, and several of Apple’s native apps like Messages, FaceTime, Wallet, Camera, and Calendar. Even Instagram and Facebook, both owned by Meta, had a prominent place on her Home Screen. However, conspicuously absent was the X app.

While it’s possible that Yaccarino placed the X app on a different page or within the App Library, it’s still noteworthy that it didn’t secure a spot on the first page. Interestingly, Yaccarino also chose to keep the Settings app in the Dock, which adds a touch of irony to the situation.
The iPhone’s Home Screen offers various customization options, particularly since the introduction of iOS 14, which brought Home Screen widgets. Users can create multiple pages and organize their apps according to their daily use. Typically, the apps one uses most frequently find their place on the first page of the Home Screen.
